Mary Gerny Marchal a habité avec son mari Henri Marchal - Conservateur d'Angkor - au Cambodge pendant plusieurs années. Là-bas, elle s'est exercée au dessin et surtout à la poésie, son art de prédilection. Elle écrit notamment pour "La revue indochinoise". Elle écrit en français et en khmer et certains de ses poèmes ont été lus par elle à des notables khmers tel que le roi Sisowath. Son recueil : "Enthousiasmes, recueillements et poèmes khmers" paraît à titre posthume en 1945. Tiré à un nombre réduit d'exemplaire, il a été édité à la demande de Henri Marchal en son hommage.
